Chatbots and Extremism: Risks, Policies, and Opportunities

The VOX-Pol Institute is hosting a one-hour closed webinar examining the intersection of conversational AI and violent extremism. Chatbots have rapidly entered mainstream use, raising urgent questions about their potential misuse as well as their promise for prevention and countering violent extremism (P/CVE).

This session will feature short expert inputs on:

  • Assessing the threat of extremist exploitation of chatbots

  • Platforms’ policies and safety mechanisms

  • Positive use of chatbots for P/CVE

The event will open with a short introduction, followed by 7–10 minute contributions on each theme, and conclude with Q&A and discussion.
